Another way to get recognition and bring more traffic to your site is by winning awards. Most of the sites that present awards list the winners on a list that may bring extra traffic to your site. Awards can also boost your visitors opinion of your site. 

Probably the biggest benefit is having your site listed on another popular site. This can help your ranking on several of the search engines. 

There are a lot of awards that are given out every day and many of the awards are given to almost any web site that enters. Others are more difficult to win so make sure your site is in tip-top shape before submitting. 

A few things to do before submitting your site for an award: (These are good pointers for good web site design in general)

• Make sure the content is fluent and grammatically correct. This is a key point. Many award reviewers are looking for good content more than anything else.
• Graphics should not be over powering or distracting.
• Load time is critical not only for award reviewers, but for your visitors as well. 
• Keep animation and plug-in's to a minimum, unless you are applying for an award that specifically looks for these features.
• Midi and wav files can also slow down load time and can be annoying to some if there is no option to turn it off.  
• Double check any links you have on your site to make sure they are still valid.
• Navigate through your site to make sure the navigation is smooth and consistent.
• Check out the previous award winners and see what their site has that yours might be lacking.
